Zapata Sparrow, Cuba February 2006.

The first Cuba trip of 2006 was interesting indeed. Although this was my third time in Cuba, it was my first so early in the year. A few birds had not arrived yet such as Grey Kingbirds, Black-whiskered Vireos and Antillean Nighthawks but it was nice to see large flocks of Lesser Scaups, Ring-necked ducks and American Wigeons on the open bodies of water near La Habana. The Zapata Sparrow was photographed on our final morning of the trip as we headed out of the Zapata Peninsula back to the capital for our flights home.
