Having crossed the Andes from Lima to Pampa Hermosa we continued down to the lowlands near Satipo where we started to climb again into the cloud forests, eventually reaching the elfin forest at Puente Carrizales and our campsite. This is a great site to see two Peruvian endemics - Fire-throated Metaltail and Eye-ringed Thistletail. Both birds were seen well the following morning as well as the obscura race of Rufous Antpitta.

PERU (Central Sept / Oct 07): Satipo Road.
