Adult white morph Ross's Goose with Pink-feet at Stalmine, Lancs 2 Feb 2008.

I fully intended to go out birding this morning but the overnight snowfall and a midday kick-off with the Gunners playing Man City made a wet morning at Fleetwood less attractive. All's well at half-time (2-1 up!) when the news of a white-phase Snow Goose in Lancs breaks. Two corners and a couple of substitutes later and the goose has been reidentified as a
Ross's Goose. Still worth a look so we set off after the final whistle and quickly located the Ross's amongst 2,000 or so Pink-footed Geese. I managed to get some record shots in the poor afternoon light. The Ross's was a classic individual exhibiting small size (appeared smaller than accompanying Pink-feet), "chunky" structure with a thick-set neck and small, triangular bill. Not much else of note apart from a Pink-footed Goose with orange legs, but not a bad afternoon (and they won 3-1).
EDIT: Went to Fleetwood the next day and it was crap!
