Old Havana, March 2008.
Just back from my latest trip to Latin America - my fifth visit to Cuba. Some excellent sightings of endemics and near-endemics this year, although numbers of Nearctic migrants were low compared to past trips.
We started the tour in the west with an overnight at Soroa before moving on to La Guira NP the next day. The Zapata peninsula was next in the itinerary with its famous swamp and the Bay of Pigs.
Playa Giron, Bay of Pigs March 2008.
The second half of the trip saw us moving east to the Sierra Najasa and Sierra de Chorillo near Camaguey before finishing on the north coast at the popular holiday resort of Cayo Coco. We also found a bit of time for a look at old Havana before flying home.
