Ammo Dump Ponds, Canal Zone, Panama 2008.

One of our last afternoons in the Canal Zone was spent in the secondary forest between the Ammo Dump Ponds and the Pipeline Road. These clearings may not have some of the rarest birds in the Neotropics but there sure ois a good variety. Plenty of stuff perching up on the bare Cecropia branches including these nice
Yellow-crowned Euphonia (lower, with the dark throat) and
Thick-billed Euphonia (above, with the yellow throat).

White-bellied Antbird, Panama May 2008.

Meanwhile at the edge of the forest we heard
White-bellied Antbird and it wasn't long before we were able to entice the male to the roadside with tape playback.
