BRAZIL 1 - 18 August 2008.

Time for another visit to Brazil starting with a few days at REGUA and the Guapiacu Bird Lodge. Set in the Atlantic Forest with the spectacular Orgaos mountains in the distance REGUA offers superb birding in the lowland and hill forests as well as wetlands. Only a couple hours from Rio's international airport REGUA is a great site to start any Brazil birding tour. We spent a very productive three days here, highlights being Russet-winged Spadebill, Star-throated Antwren, Yellow-lored Tody-Flycatcher, Swallow Manakin, Pin-tailed Manakin, Spot-backed Antshrike, Olive-green Tanager, Sooretame Slaty-Antshrike, White-necked Hawk and Crescent-chested Puffbird. All this with great food and copious amounts of Caipirhinas, nice lodgings and super hospitality provided by Nicholas and Raquel. I look forward to returning later this year for a longer spell.
