BRAZIL: Birding the Transpantaneira.

Wood Storks on Pantanal pool, September 2008.

After all the mammal excitement we got back to the serious stuff of finding a few birds. There were of course plenty of photo-op's with Wood Storks and Roseate Spoonbills (above) feeding by the roadside, loads of Jabirus, Large-billed Terns, Buff-necked and Plumbeous Ibis, etc, etc.

Sunbittern. Say no more ....

And from the sublime .......... Bare-faced Ibis.

One bridge was particularly good for birding with a few White-naped Xenopsaris (above) about and Scarlet-headed Blackbirds, Rusty-backed Antwrens, White-bellied Seedeaters trying to steal their thunder.

Brazilian Teal.
