The hotel by the Rio Pixaim is well situated for sneaking out for a bit of lunchtime birding in the gallery forest. Despite the heat there were plenty of birds about including White-lored Spinetail (above), Mato Grosso Antbirds (below), Red-billed Scythebill and Helmeted Manakins.

This cracking Rufous-tailed Jacamar was very approachable by the side of the trail allowing super close-up views.
