ECUADOR 2009.

Mealy and Yellow-crowned Amazons in Yusuni National Park.

Sword-billed Humminbird at Guango Lodge near Papallacta.

Giant Antpitta, Refugio de los Antpittas.

Rio Bombuscaro, Podacarpus National Park.

Lanceolated Monklet, Rio Bombuscaro.

Papallacta.

Jocotoco Antpitta, Tapichalaca Reserve.

Long time no blogging! Few minutes to spare in the airport in Quito as I wait for my flight back to Europe, so a taster from the two recent tours to Ecuador. I have to admit after a month of rain (every day!) I am looking forward to returning to the UK, even if it is only for a short while.
Birding throughout Ecuador over the past month has taken me to the Amazon, east and west slope of the Andes in the north with the final two weeks concentrating on the south of the country. The birds have been truely amazing with a selection of Choco endemics, rare birds from both slopes in the south and best of all several species of antpitta.

More at the weekend .........
