Male Orange-breasted Fruiteater plus chicks, Mindo area January 2009.
Violet-tailed Sylph near Mindo, January 2009.

Plenty of hummers on show on Angel Paz's feeders above the cloud forest trails this year.
Empress Brilliant (above) and
Velvet-purple Coronet the pick of the bunch. However the star of the morning (apart from the antpittas) was undoubtedly the
Orange-breasted Fruiteaters. This male above was viewed with 'scopes at a very safe distance, the female attending every so often. At one point another male approached and was seen-off immediately.
