GUYANA February 2009.

Black-legged Kittiwake, Baganara Island Rio Essequibo, Guyana February 2009.

This is I believe the first record of Kittiwake for Guyana! It was picked up in the Rio Essequibo and taken to our lodge at Baganara Island where it unfortunately died the following day.

Double-toothed Kite, Baganara Island February 2009.

Baganara Island has only a small patch of forest but we did manage to find a few half-decent birds there including this splendid Double-toothed Kite. It remained perched above us all the time we were photographing and discussing it! Not much else of quality here apart from a nice Golden-headed Manakin lek.

Male Collared Plover, Baganara Island, Guyana February 2009.

Plenty to see in the open areas around the airstrip though including a couple of cracking waders. Collared Plovers were plentiful whilst Pied Plovers were just downright common as muck!

Laughing Falcon, Baganara Island, Guyana February 2009.
