Leucistic Common Buzzard near Loch Ken, Dumfries & Galloway 16 June 2009 (with kind permission from Peter Bagnall).Lancashire birder Peter Bagnall kindly sent me a few images from his recent trip to Dumfries & Galloway. The leucistic Common Buzzard has been frequenting Loch Ken for a few years now and boy did it give me a shock when it first flew out of a tree near Mains of Duchrae when I was looking for Greenland Whitefronts! Peter took this marvellous photo of the bird on the east side of Ken; indeed my last sighting (in February) was near Crossmichael too.
Peter has also sent me this picture of a leucistic Moorhen at Dalton Wildlife Park in one of the pens there.
