Could be better ......

Hesketh Out Marsh RSPB, 9 August 2011
Quiet .......
2 Little Egret, 10 Teal, 2 Greenshank, Ruff, Dunlin, Lesser Whitethroat, Willow Warbler, Yellow Wagtail.

Hesketh Out Marsh RSPB, 11 August 2011
Still quiet ......
1 Marsh Harrier, 3 Little Egret, 2 Teal, 3 Green Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank, 20 Redshank, 18 Curlew, 2 (adult + juvenile) Yellow Wagtail.

The reserve much wetter after the recent heavy rain with a few damp areas in the inland fields. Hopefully these will produce a few waders like last autumn if we get some more downpours.

Some bigger tides at the weekend so hopefully some better birds. What I'd give for one of these ..........

American Golden Plover, Pantanal (Brazil).

Some more photos from the Pantanal .........
American Wood Storks and Roseate Spoonbill.
Little Blue Heron.
Bare-faced Ibis.

But the Pantanal is perhaps best known for the world's largest parrot .......
Hyacinth Macaw.
Greater Rhea ......... in the garden!

And in the grasslands ........
Red-legged Seriema.

And if you get really lucky ........
Jaguar, Pantanal September 2008.
