A big flock of Barnies next to the road at Loaningfoot near Southerness just had to be checked as I neared the caravan after work yesterday afternoon. Couldn't find anything on the first three "sweeps" but more geese arrived and the Red-breasted Goose was among them. Naturally it started to rain hard as soon as it showed, but definitely my best views of this individual yet.
Still a few grey geese around today (3rd), with a nice mixed flock of Pinkies and Barnies near Carsethorn here on the Solway in Dumfries & Galloway. Managed to find three European White-fronts and a Dark-bellied Brent in them. A Peregrine was causing a bit of panic overhead strangely.
Pretty dead on the rapidly drying-out Ribble marshes at the weekend with just the usual Avocets and large numbers of Golden Plovers and Black-tailed Godwits to show for a couple of trips to the estuary at Marshside and Hesketh Out Marsh.
